BMRC is a volunteer lead organization, and for us to run safe and enjoyable races for our kids, we need you to help! Your volunteer commitment can be met in many ways – there are a few positions that require certification. If you are interested in becoming an official as a referee (start/finish), helping out with timing (best seat on the hill), or supporting as the Race Administrator (race coordination), please consider signing up for the officials clinics this fall and/or talk to a board member. We will be at the picnic to answer questions as well!

This year, NYSSRA athletes (and other state’s athletes) are being invited to participate in the Parade of Athletes at the Killington World Cup on Sunday Nov. 26. This is an exciting opportunity for NYSSRA to show its support for US Ski Team athletes and the other World Cup athletes from around the world. We will be sending out more info about the parade meeting place and other details soon. As part of this opportunity, NYSSRA is making custom hats and neck warmers for our athletes to show that they are part of NYSSRA. Below is the mock up of the hats which are a custom design and only available to NYSSRA members. These are high quality hats and neck warmers and besides being affordable, they are just plain cool. If you are planning on attending the World Cup (everyone should be going) please order your hats or neck warmers soon. The quantities are limited and we will begin shipping as soon as they arrive in early November. Hats – $30, Neck Warmers $17 or $20, plus $3 shipping per item.
The annual BMRC picnic has been scheduled for October 15th, from noon-3:00 p.m., at the Dryer Road Park Shelter in Victor. Please save the date and further details and sign up sheet to follow.
The BMRC coaching Staff will be at The Ski Company in Henrietta to assist you with equipment choices on Monday September 18th and Wednesday the 20th from 5pm-9pm.
All BMRC athletes are encouraged to come on those nights to select the proper gear for the upcoming season. We will be boot fitting, sizing up the right skis and making sure you are in the correct bindings. Each night from 8-9 the tuning shop will be open for a tour and a description of race tuning they are capable of providing.
We look forward to seeing you there to ensure you are on the correct equipment.
Both new and used will be available.
Winter is Coming!!

Bristol Mountain is hosting the High School Sectionals and States, 2/14-2/15 and 2/27-2/28. Section V has invited BMRC to staff all four days with timers and gatekeepers as a fundraiser. We have an opportunity to highlight our club, recruit future members and raise up to $2,000. This is a great way to support these outstanding athletes – many who also compete in Easterns. If you can volunteer, please email Sharon Lonthair, firstname.lastname@example.org (the sooner the better!) with your available days and times. Will you be there for your own athlete? Then volunteer for the morning or afternoon. If we get enough volunteers we will split the shifts. On behalf of all of the club leadership and these athletes – thank you!
We are looking forward to a modified U16/U19 SG Race this weekend. In order for the race to run smoothly, we are still in need of gatekeepers, timers and course crew for Saturday and Sunday. Currently, we have no gatekeepers for Saturday (PM race only) or Sunday (AM and PM races). Trying to fill these slots on race day can delay start times. Please take time today to signup for Saturday or Sunday or for one of the future races with openings still. There are still many parent volunteers with less than 3 activities toward the parent volunteer commitment. Thank you. If you have questions email/call Sharon, email@example.com, 585-703-5834.
Bristol SG races are on! Please see the updated format below and register your athlete. If you signed up to volunteer Friday, Saturday or Sunday, we will still need volunteers for all three days to prepare the hill. Watch for more email announcements.
Empire Cup SG races confirmed for this weekend (U16, U19, U21)
Obviously the weather has not been cooperating once again. After discussions with both Gore and Bristol we have confirmed that the SG races at BOTH locations are confirmed for this weekend with a slight modification at Bristol.
Gore will hold the planned SG free skiing day on Friday, followed by SG races on Saturday and Sunday. They plan to hold 2 SG races each day, ONLY the first SG each day will be used for Empire State Winter Games qualifying.
Bristol will not be able to hold the SG free skiing day on Friday. Instead they will have SG free skiing on Saturday morning with a race on Saturday afternoon. Then, they will plan to hold 2 SG races on Sunday. The SG race on Saturday and the first SG race on Sunday will be used for Empire State Winter Games qualifying.
A modified Bristol program will be available on the NYSSRA web site under schedules later this afternoon. Registration for both locations is via AdminSkiRacing.com.
Update: Our slate of volunteers is shaping up nicely for Sunday’s Flight Speed Camp, let’s hope the weather will do so also to maintain the hill. We are still in need of three volunteers for course crew. Please add your name to the spreadsheet. To get the camp off smoothly – fencing must be put up on Comet on Saturday. Please meet Jeff at the lift at 10 a.m. for that project. If you have questions, please call/email Sharon Lonthair, 585-703-5834.
Thank you to all of the parents, volunteers and athletes for helping to make this past Sunday’s council race at Bristol Mountain a success. Sunday, 1/22 we will host another event, the U12/U14 Flight Speed Camp. There are still several volunteer openings. Please sign up on the spreadsheet as soon as able. While we had sufficient volunteers this past Sunday, we had to cover some openings the morning of the race. Help us avoid last minute shuffling and sign up early. Remember the club commitment is three race/camp events during a season. If you have questions, call/email Sharon Lonthair, 585-703-5834.
Our first council race as BMRC hosts is just 4 days away, Sun. Jan. 15. We are still in need of hand timers, course crew and gatekeepers. Please log in to the volunteer spreadsheet to see where you can help and fulfill your club volunteer commitment. If you have already signed up, check the volunteer details web page. The volunteer arrival times, descriptions and gate keeper training videos are listed. If you have questions, email Sharon Lonthair at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you’re interested in timing, please contact Jim Wolford at email@example.com. Thanks for your support of the club and our children and young adult racers!
